Unfortunately the streaming audio will be discontinued as of January 2009. The Streaming Audio Translation did not prove to be a popular feature for our users/members. Many were looking for a text only translation. Also the Sitepal's animated reader spoke quite fast. This is probably because it was intended to 'Sell' products rather than read slowly and clearly. Maybe in the future there will be a better reader with a clear and slower reading speed that can be integrated into The Pure Language.
Also advertising was added. This was only added to the Free Chinese, Pinyin and English translation areas. This was done to cover the some of costs of running this site and perhaps may display some useful links to our free users.
There is no advertising displayed for our Members area.

New Feature - Streaming Audio Translation:

Have your translation read aloud:
Our one week and one month members have access to this new feature.
After they have created their translation, they can have the Pinyin Chinese results read aloud in Mandarin Chinese for all Three translation service types (English to Chinese, Pinyin to Chinese and Chinese to English).
They also can have Chinese Pinyin and/or US English can be read audibly for the English to Chinese translation service. The one week pass includes 50 audio streams, and the one month pass includes 300 audio streams. A sound card, speakers/earphones and up-to-date browser are required.
This feature uses sitepal's animated person to read the translation audibly. The audio streams are on demand, so it will only read out the translation when selected. The animated reader remains hidden until selected to maintain a printer friendly version. It is our hope that this feature will be enjoyed to give the translation some life and have some edutainment value. It could also be used to help you to learn the Chinese characters and pinyin pronunciation. Even members learning English may benefit listening to the English they want translated.

English to Chinese and Pinyin translation algorithm enhancement and Pinyin Keyboard.
Improved parsing of English text and Pinyin text containing special characters such as &%#$:) and – hyphenated words.
In English, there are words that are spelled the same but have totally different meanings based on the context of the sentence.
Since an English to Chinese translation could have multiple meanings per word, The PureLanguage allows you to select the appropriate translation from the multiple word choices displayed. Note: For Pinyin to Chinese translation, one pinyin letter or word could also represent multiple Chinese symbols and thus many English words.
Click on the button provided when all sections have been completed, to remove all hide/show links. This will provide an improved clean version for printing or copying to another electronic document such as MS Word or Open Office. This New feature has been added to both the English and Pinyin translation pages.
Also the Pinyin Keyboard has been added to both the free Pinyin translation and members Pinyin translation pages. Pinyin Keyboard allows easy entry of Pinyin Tone Characters into the input box for quick translation. The Pinyin Keyboard also enters characters at cursor position in the textbox. The performance of translation algorithms has been improved to provide faster translation for a large amount of text. Now the Enhanced Member Translation services have been increased to translation up to 2000 per translation.
