决定了要不要加 -s、用 a 还是 some、用 many 还是 much——一个判断带三个后果。
| 能用 a / an | ✅ a book | ❌ |
| 能直接数 | ✅ three books | ❌ 要借量词:three glasses of water |
| 多 / 少 | many / few / a few | much / little / a little |
The news is good. |
How many? | How much? |
|---|---|---|---|
| advice | 建议 | an advice / advices | a piece of advice / some advice |
| information | 信息 | an information | a piece of information / some information |
| news | 新闻 | a news / news are | a piece of news / news is |
| furniture | 家具 | furnitures | a piece of furniture / two pieces of furniture |
| equipment | 设备 | equipments | a piece of equipment |
| luggage / baggage | 行李 | luggages | two pieces of luggage |
| homework | 作业 | homeworks / a homework | some homework / a lot of homework |
| knowledge | 知识 | knowledges | some knowledge / a good knowledge of… |
| progress | 进步 | a progress | make progress / some progress |
| traffic | 交通 | traffics | heavy traffic / a lot of traffic |
再补三个常错的:money(钱,但 coins/notes 可数)· bread(a loaf of bread / a slice of bread)· research(a piece of research)。
water, milk, coffee, tea, oil, air, gas, wood, paper, plastic, gold, glass, cotton, sand
rice, sugar, salt, flour, meat, cheese, butter, bread, fruit(美式常不可数)
love, happiness, freedom, health, luck, patience, courage, beauty, fun, honesty
furniture, equipment, luggage, money, jewellery, clothing, machinery, mail
math, physics, English, music, homework, work, research, travel, weather
rain, snow, wind, thunder, sunshine, electricity, heat, pollution, darkness
|---|---|---|---|
| a piece of | advice, news, information, furniture, paper, cake | a glass of | water, milk, juice, wine |
| a cup of | coffee, tea | a bottle of | water, beer, oil |
| a slice of | bread, cheese, pizza, meat | a loaf of | bread |
| a bowl of | rice, soup, noodles | a bar of | chocolate, soap |
| a bag of | rice, flour, sugar | a drop of | water, oil, blood |
| a grain of | rice, sand, salt | a sheet of | paper |
| an item of | clothing, news, furniture | a bit of | (口语通用)advice, help, luck |
复数化在量词上,不在名词上:two pieces of advice(✗ two piece of advices)。
5. many / much / few / little / some / any 选择表
|---|---|---|---|
| 多 | many books | much water | a lot of / lots of / plenty of |
| 少(肯定:有一些) | a few books | a little water | some |
| 少(否定:几乎没有) | few books | little water | hardly any |
| 一些(肯定句) | some books / some water | some | |
| 一些(否定、疑问) | any books / any water | any | |
| 没有 | no books / no water | no / not any | |
| 太多 | too many people | too much noise | — |
How many books? | How much water? | — |
I have a few friends here.
I have few friends here.
a little / little 同理。
提问礼貌用 some:请求或劝让时用 some 而非 any——Would you like some tea?
| time | 时间 | three times = 三次 |
| room | 空间 | a room = 房间 |
| chicken / fish | 鸡肉 / 鱼肉 | a chicken = 一只鸡;two fish = 两条鱼 |
| light | 光 | a light = 一盏灯 |
所以要说 The news is good.
同理 two waters、three beers 在餐厅里完全没问题。但写正式文章时仍用 two cups of coffee。
查词典时看词条上的标记:[C] = countable(可数),[U] = uncountable(不可数),两个都有就是两栖名词。
