Moving to a New City
Three years ago I moved to a new city for work.
三年前我因为工作搬到了一个新城市。
I did not know anybody there.
我在那里一个人也不认识。
My flat was small and the walls were white and empty.
我的房子很小，墙又白又空。
For the first month I only spoke at work.
第一个月我只在工作的时候说话。
In the evening I walked around the streets.
晚上我在街上走来走去。
There was a small noodle shop near my building.
我住的楼附近有一家小面馆。
I went there almost every night.
我几乎每天晚上都去。
After two weeks the owner knew my order.
两个星期以后，老板知道我要点什么了。
One evening he sat down and asked where I was from.
有一天晚上他坐下来，问我从哪里来。
We talked for an hour.
我们聊了一个小时。
He was the first friend I made in that city.
