About this deck

Practise 29 words with a matching picture on every card. Walk through a trip in order: say the word for each thing you pack, each step at the airport, what you use on the plane and what you need at the hotel desk before checking the pinyin. Then shuffle and try the harder pairs: take off and land, check in and check out, single room and double room, luggage and suitcase. Save the words you hesitate on for Review, then practise the full sentences in the airport and hotel phrase levels of the Travel Phrases deck.

Five documents and packing words, seven airport steps, four things on the plane, seven hotel-desk words and six room words make this 29-card selection. Words already in other decks stay there: plane and airport are in Transport, hotel as 酒店 in Places Around Town, key in Home and towel and hairdryer in Daily Routine. The passport is a closed booklet with a plain globe; the visa is an open passport page with a stamp. Luggage is several bags together; suitcase is one rolling case. Take off and land show the same plane climbing and descending over a runway. Security check is a walk-through arch beside a bag scanner; customs is an officer's cap and a magnifying glass over a case on the counter. Register is a form being signed at a counter bell; deposit is money held and returned, shown by a padlock and a return arrow. Single and double room differ only by the number of beds. Check in and check out are the same door and suitcase with the arrow pointing in or out; the front desk is a counter with a receptionist and a key rack, and the room key card is tapped on a door lock. 登机口, 前台, 入住, 退房 and 房卡 are not in the site dictionary yet, so their readings and meanings come from CC-CEDICT, marked †, and have no dictionary link. Every picture is generic: no airline colours, hotel name, real document design or text.

Think you know them? The Chinese Picture Quiz says a word and shows it in characters, and you tap its picture — these cards mixed with every other picture deck.
