HSK Level Analyzer

The HSK Level Analyzer grades any Chinese passage against the HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) vocabulary levels so you can tell, at a glance, whether a text matches a learner's level. Paste a sentence, a paragraph, or a whole reading passage and you'll get the percentage of words at each level, a color-coded view that highlights harder words, and a ready-made list of the words that go beyond HSK.

Because Chinese is written without spaces between words, the analyzer first segments the text — it walks through your input and, at each point, takes the longest run of characters that forms a real dictionary word. That same in-memory dictionary supplies the pinyin and English meaning shown for every word, so the breakdown is instant and works completely offline of any translation API.

What is the HSK Level Analyzer?

A free tool that reads Chinese text you paste in and reports how its vocabulary spreads across HSK levels 1–6. It splits the text into words, classifies each by HSK level, lists the words beyond HSK, and shows a color-coded reading view with pinyin and meanings. Nothing is stored.

How does it find where each word starts and ends?

Chinese has no spaces between words, so the analyzer uses greedy longest-match segmentation against an in-memory Chinese dictionary: at each position it takes the longest sequence of characters that forms a known word. The same dictionary provides the pinyin and meanings.

Is it useful for teachers?

Is it free and private?
