What is on the paper

Section Questions Marks
听力 Listening 20 100
阅读 Reading 20 100
Total 40 200
  • The section counts and the 40 minutes are the new exam's, from Chinese Testing International's HSK 3.0 structure document for levels 1–6. One clock for the whole paper, not one per section.
  • The question types are adapted, not the official ones. Picture questions become word-meaning questions, the word bank becomes gap-fill, and the writing tasks become missing-character and word-order drills.
  • Practice target 120 / 200, each section worth 100. That is the share the HSK 2.0 papers required; the HSK 3.0 structure document publishes no pass mark, so treat it as a guide, not a prediction of an official result.
  • Listening questions have a play button. Press it as often as you like; the real exam controls the playback and uses more than one voice.
  • Pinyin is printed above the Chinese, as it is on the new level 1 sample paper.
  • The speaking part of the new exam is not on this page. Practice it on the HSKK speaking page.
  • You can skip and come back. Nothing is submitted or stored, and there is no sign-up.

    Where these questions come from

The words tested are the ones new at HSK 3.0 level 1, from the official 2025 exam syllabus, with their readings and meanings from this site's dictionary (or CC-CEDICT, marked †). The sentences are ones already published on the dictionary pages and in the graded readers, and a sentence is used only when every word in it is on the HSK 3.0 list at level 1 or below — so nothing on the paper is above the level you are sitting.

Because there is far more material than one sitting can use, the paper is different every time: retaking it is a new exam rather than a second look at the same one.

    Questions people ask

Is this the real HSK 3.0 level 1 exam?

No. It has the new exam's section counts and total time for level 1, but the questions are adapted exercises generated from the level's word list, not official or past questions, and the speaking part is not included.

Which exam should I practice for?

HSK 1–6 sittings from 13 December 2026 use the HSK 3.0 syllabus, so this is the paper to practice for them. The last HSK 2.0 sitting was 7 November 2026; the HSK 1 practice test in the HSK 2.0 format is still here. Unsure which you are booked for? Read old or new HSK exam? and confirm with your test center.

    Is there a pass mark?

The HSK 3.0 structure document gives the section counts and times but no pass mark, so this page uses a practice target of 120 / 200 — the share the HSK 2.0 papers required. Use it to see whether you are improving, not to predict an official result.
