About this deck

Practise 24 words with a matching picture on every card. Tell your own day in Chinese, in order: what wakes you, what you do before breakfast, when you go to work or school, and how you spend the evening. Try saying each word before checking the pinyin. Save unfamiliar words, use New shuffle for another recall round, then read the same routine in the HSK 1 story My Day.

Eight morning words, five for going out and coming back, five for washing and care, three chores and three evening words make this 24-card selection. Every action card is a headword the dictionary has on its own — phrases such as washing your face or doing the dishes are left out because neither of this site's dictionary sources lists them, and this deck does not invent translations. The sky tells the time: dawn colours for the morning, a high sun for midday, a sunset for finishing work and a moon for going home and supper. Going to work and finishing work show the same figure walking towards, then away from, the same building. A person sitting up in bed is getting up, a face with a toothbrush is brushing teeth, and a figure under a shower is bathing. The dressing card shows one arm in a jacket sleeve; its meaning is to wear or put on. Sleep is practised in the Everyday Verbs deck and feeling sleepy in the Feelings deck.

Think you know them? The Chinese Picture Quiz says a word and shows it in characters, and you tap its picture — these cards mixed with every other picture deck.
