About this deck

Practise 24 words with a matching picture on every card. Walk through your own home in Chinese: name the room you are in, then three things you can see in it. Try saying each word before checking the pinyin. Save unfamiliar words, use New shuffle for another recall round, and point at the real objects as you review them — words practised around you every day are the easiest to keep.

Six homes and rooms, five parts of the house, seven pieces of furniture and six other things around the home make this 24-card selection. The rooms are drawn as cutaways — a back wall and a floor — so a bedroom shows a bed by a window, a living room a sofa and a television, a kitchen its counter and cupboards, and a bathroom tiles, a mirror and a tub; the single objects are drawn on their own. A bed alone is the bed card and a tub full of bubbles is the bathtub card. The curtains card shows curtains drawn back from a window, while the window card shows the window alone. A wardrobe is not included because neither of this site's dictionary sources has an entry for it; a table and a chair are practised in the Restaurant deck, and cooking tools are left for a kitchen deck.

Think you know them? The Chinese Picture Quiz says a word and shows it in characters, and you tap its picture — these cards mixed with every other picture deck.
