How to play
- A situation appears in English — “Please use the meter”, “I'm allergic to peanuts”.
- Tap the Chinese phrase that says it, before the bar runs out.
- Correct answers build a combo up to ×5; answering fast adds a time bonus.
- Three lives. A wrong answer or a timeout costs one.

Every phrase and every wrong option is a genuine phrase from the travel phrasebook — so the distractors are things you might really need, not invented filler. The badge under each prompt tells you which situation it belongs to.

Where do these phrases come from?
From our own Chinese for Travellers phrasebook — the same 304 lines that appear on the fourteen situation pages, with audio and explanations. Nothing here is generated or invented.
Do I need to know characters to play?
It helps, but the reveal after each answer shows the pinyin, so you can play by recognising the shape of a phrase and learn the reading as you go. If you'd rather start with sound, the pinyin chart and tone trainer come first.
Is my score saved?
Your best score is kept in your own browser, and finishing a round submits to the site's no-login leaderboard. There is no account and nothing to sign up for.
